Pomeroy's Update March—May 2010

So that was summer. 2010—two thousand and ten or 20-10—which do you prefer? Well, thanks to the somewhat gloomy weather, Pomeroy’s has been cracking on quite nicely thank you. When the choice is between a howling, grey easterly at the beach or a refreshing beverage at the pub of choice, I think we know how it’s going to go. No sand in your sandwich at Pom’s!

December was jolly good fun and busy. Victoria realised that, with the experience of so many Christmases under their belts, the team are finding they’re pretty darn good at it and it’s a real pleasure. With this insight, Victoria then popped off on a 21-day yoga course, under the tutelage of Donna Farhi, and had a fantastic time without a morsel of cranberry stuffing in sight.

Meanwhile, the rest of the family knuckled down. Steve had the Bo humming, especially with a lot of repeat business from out-of-town Cantabrians coming into the city for a grand weekend or two. He has also begun formulating a cunning plan for an ‘away trip’ to Beervana in Welly next August. Imagine the fun!!! Ava and Keeley keenly beavered all through the ‘holidays’… but their time will come. In April Keeley & Steve are off the Canada to visit Aidan and create mayhem (stay off the luge, boys!) and Ava’s looking forward to beginning a 6 month Diploma of Make-up Artistry. Oh poo, all her friends will win the fancy dress prizes from now on :’(

Hey, never mind. What do we have to look forward to? Another epic Epic beer tasting with Luke Nicholas (woohoo!), Adam from The Eastern to entertain us, and Crusaders home games (don’t forget to catch Pomeroy’s courtesy bus). We have a dashing new head chef, Eiji, bringing his wide experience and skills to bear on a dashed good new menu plus a freshly overhauled, eye-wateringly good wine list (check it out) and beaut new beers to taste. Don’t forget Sunday lunches from 12.00 (on Sundays). Not least, an eye-popping, seat-moistening, awesome comedy series—Pomeroy’s ‘Laugh Inn’—starting in April and featuring some of the funniest, bendiest and boggliest acts in the World/New Zealand.

While summer wasn’t exactly the summer we hoped for and as our New Years resolutions fade into their ghostly, unrealised past … there is still hope. So, you didn’t give up smoking/get fit/lose weight/spend more time with the kids? Leave your fags at home, jog with the family down to Pomeroy’s, enjoy a salad or a light meal with an exceptional beverage and stay for a laugh. 2010, eh? Bloody good so far!
